About the Funder

AgSouth Farm Credit is committed to preserving and promoting agriculture across the Southeast. Through the Growing Our Communities Grant, AgSouth invests in nonprofit organizations and farmers markets that strengthen agricultural education, rural infrastructure, and community vitality.

The grant program is designed to build strong partnerships and enhance quality of life while supporting the long-term future of agriculture in the region.


2027 Growing Our Communities Grant Cycle

The 2027 application period will be open:

Funds awarded through this cycle may be used during the 2027 calendar year.

Applicants must demonstrate alignment with these objectives.


What This Program Supports

Organizations must submit a specific project proposal. Examples of previously funded initiatives include:

  • Farmers market programming for children
  • Livestock arena improvements
  • Agricultural education programs (e.g., chick hatching, beekeeping)
  • Demonstration farms in partnership with schools
  • Grain bin rescue equipment for emergency responders
  • School greenhouse construction
  • Irrigation systems for farmers markets
  • Community garden expansion
  • Agricultural events
  • Equipment purchases supporting livestock or farm programming

Projects should preserve, promote, or enhance agriculture and rural community life.


Eligibility

  • Nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3))
  • Farmers markets
  • Must operate within AgSouth’s 147-county service territory in Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina

Not Eligible:

  • Individuals
  • Private farms

Applicants must submit a completed online application and attach a copy of their organization’s W-9. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.


Timeline & Review

📅 Application Window: April 1 – June 30, 2026
📅 Review & Award Notifications: November–December 2026
📅 Funds Available for Use: 2027 calendar year

All applications must be submitted online. Organizations should ensure:

  • Clear alignment with the program mission
  • A well-defined project proposal
  • Required documentation, including W-9, attached prior to submission
