About the Funder
Avnet is a global technology solutions company that supports community impact through Avnet Cares, its philanthropic and volunteer program. Through Avnet Cares, the company invests in nonprofit organizations that help build stronger communities, expand educational opportunity, advance sustainability, and provide support during times of crisis.
Avnet defines community broadly, extending beyond the cities and neighborhoods where it operates to include groups of people working together to make a positive difference.
What This Program Supports
Avnet’s giving priorities include:
STEM
Youth programs that lead to career pathways in science, technology, engineering, and math. Avnet gives preference to programs serving traditionally under-resourced communities.
Environment
Programs that create innovative pathways to sustainability, with preference for programs that incorporate technology.
Communities in Crisis
Programs that provide direct assistance for basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing. Avnet notes that only a very limited number of Communities in Crisis grants are funded.
Geographic Focus
Avnet reviews LOIs from organizations that serve or directly impact communities where Avnet companies have major operations, including:
Phoenix, Arizona
San Jose, California
Richfield, Ohio
Gaffney, South Carolina
Dallas, Texas
Chicago, Illinois
Boston, Massachusetts
Cherry Hill, New Jersey
Orlando, Florida
Guadalajara, Mexico
Toronto, Canada
Avnet also considers programs that reach all or part of the Americas.
Eligible Organizations
Eligible applicants include:
501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
Government-recognized charities
Organizations must have been in existence for three years or longer to be eligible.
Important Eligibility Notes
Organizations must submit a Letter of Intent before applying for a grant. LOIs are accepted on an ongoing basis, and Avnet asks applicants to allow 4–6 weeks for a response.
Organizations invited to apply may then submit a full application by one of Avnet’s quarterly deadlines.
Avnet also requires applicants to email their 501(c)(3) letter or other government-recognized charity designation to avnet.cares@avnet.com for the application to be reviewed.
Due to Avnet’s existing sponsorship of AZ FIRST Robotics and a new rookie team each year, Avnet is unable to support other individual robotics teams.
Funding Amounts
Avnet describes this as a small grants program. Specific award amounts are not publicly listed.

Why This Opportunity Is a Good Fit
This opportunity is a strong fit for established nonprofits and government-recognized charities working in Avnet communities or serving broader regional needs across the Americas.
It may be especially relevant for organizations that:
Provide STEM education or career pathway programs for youth
Serve traditionally under-resourced communities
Use technology to advance sustainability
Support environmental education or resource efficiency
Provide basic needs assistance during community crises
Operate in or near an Avnet major operations community
Because Avnet requires an LOI before invitation to apply, organizations should begin early and build in enough time for review before the September 10 deadline.
