Funding for Environmental Stewardship, Sustainability, and Community Engagement
Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) is committed to environmental stewardship as a core value of its operations and community engagement. Through the Green Grants program, BGE supports nonprofit-led projects that promote responsible use of natural resources, pollution prevention, energy efficiency, and environmental education across the communities it serves.
Green Grants complement BGE’s broader environmental giving strategy and help connect employees to meaningful environmental initiatives in the communities where they live and work.

About the Funder
Baltimore Gas and Electric is Maryland’s largest electric and natural gas utility, serving central Maryland. In addition to delivering safe and reliable energy, BGE invests in environmental initiatives that strengthen community sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and foster long-term stewardship of natural resources.

Geographic Eligibility
Projects must be located within BGE’s Maryland service territory, which includes communities across:
- Baltimore City
- Baltimore County
- Anne Arundel County
- Prince George’s County
- Howard County
- Montgomery County
- Harford County
- Carroll County
- Frederick County
- Cecil County
- Calvert County
This includes the greater Baltimore–Annapolis–Columbia–Silver Spring region and surrounding suburban and rural areas served by BGE. Applicants must confirm that their project site falls within an eligible BGE service ZIP code.
Eligible Applicants
Applicants must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- Propose a project located within BGE’s service territory
- Demonstrate a clear environmental benefit to the community
- Submit a project-specific budget detailing how grant funds will be used
Ineligible Requests
BGE will not fund:
- Basic operating expenses
- Capital projects
- Organizations that receive a Green Grant in 2026 (one grant per organization per year)
Environmental Focus Areas
BGE Green Grants support projects in the following areas:

Projects may be new or existing programs, provided they demonstrate measurable improvement in environmental outcomes for the community.
Timeline & Review
📅 Application Deadline: March 22, 2026 (late submissions not accepted)
📅 Applicant Notification: By June 1, 2026
📅 Project Completion Deadline: June 2, 2027
Organizations that receive a Green Grant will not be eligible for another BGE grant in 2026.
