About the Funder
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation works to expand access to affordable, quality health care and advance health equity throughout Massachusetts.
Through research, policy initiatives, and grantmaking, the Foundation supports organizations addressing barriers to health care access, particularly for populations experiencing persistent health inequities.
The Catalyst Fund is supported by contributions from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts employees and vendors. It is designed to help smaller community-based nonprofits strengthen their organizational capacity and better serve their communities.

Why This Opportunity Is a Good Fit
The Catalyst Fund is particularly well suited for organizations that:
- Serve Massachusetts communities experiencing health inequities
- Have annual budgets of $5 million or less
- Need a modest, one-time investment to strengthen organizational capacity
- Are working to improve health or health care access for underserved populations
- Can demonstrate how the proposed project will improve their ability to serve their communities
A notable feature of this opportunity is that applicants do not need to be exclusively health-focused organizations.
