Strengthening Communities Through Housing, Environment, and Outdoor Spaces
The CenterPoint Energy Foundation supports nonprofit organizations working to enhance Community Vitalityacross the regions it serves. Cycle 2 funding is open exclusively to proposals focused on community well-being, environmental stewardship, housing stability, and access to outdoor spaces.

Funding Focus – Community Vitality
This grant cycle supports initiatives aligned with the Community Vitality pillar, including:
- Affordable Housing
Programs increasing access to quality, affordable, and energy-efficient housing. - Environmental Stewardship
Conservation efforts, environmental education, and initiatives preserving communities for future generations. - Community Outdoor Spaces
Projects improving or expanding access to parks, trails, and green spaces that enhance quality of life.
Programs serving low- to moderate-income communities receive priority consideration.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, organizations must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) public charity in good standing
- Have a primary address within CenterPoint Energy’s service territory
- Demonstrate strong governance, financial health, and community engagement
- Propose projects with measurable, sustainable outcomes
Funding Guidelines & Restrictions
Funding is awarded competitively and must support programmatic or capital initiatives. The Foundation does not fund general operating expenses, salaries as standalone requests, sponsorships, fundraising events, endowments, scholarships, or projects already completed.

📅 Grant Decisions Communicated: By end of September / October 2026
⏳ Applicants should plan for a minimum 90-day review period.
