Charter Oak evaluates proposals based on:

  • Number of people served
  • Level of community need
  • Potential for long-term impact

Ineligible Requests

Charter Oak does not fund:

  • Individuals
  • Political, fraternal, or religious organizations
  • Private foundations
  • Organizations not open to the general public
  • Organizations outside New London and Windham counties

Funding Amounts

Charter Oak does not publish standard grant amounts. Awards vary based on project scope, impact, and available funding.


Timeline & Review

📅 Application Deadline: July 1, 2026 (for Q3 review cycle)
📅 Decision Notification: September 2026

Additional cycles:

  • January 1 → Decisions in March
  • April 1 → Decisions in June
  • October 1 → Decisions in December

📅 Review Process: Quarterly


Application / Request Process

Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed quarterly. Applicants should:

  • Ensure alignment with Charter Oak’s priority areas
  • Clearly demonstrate community impact and measurable outcomes
  • Be prepared to submit a final report within six months of funding
