The James M. Cox Foundation offers a second annual funding cycle for nonprofits aligned with its community investment priorities. This cycle supports organizations proposing well-defined projects with sustainable impact in communities served by Cox Enterprises.

Funding Priorities

The Foundation focuses on grants that strengthen organizations and expand community impact through:

  • Capital improvements
  • Program or service expansion
  • Capacity-building initiatives
  • Special, high-impact projects

Applications should demonstrate strong leadership, diversified funding, and evidence of program success.


Eligibility & Restrictions

To be eligible, organizations must:

  • Be federally tax-exempt under 501(c)(3) (or eligible government entity)
  • Operate where Cox Enterprises or its subsidiaries do business
  • Have an existing relationship with a local Cox business

Organizations may submit only one request within a 24-month period.

Requests will not be considered for general operating support, fundraising events, political causes, endowments, debt relief, or discriminatory organizations or programs.

📅 Application Reviewed: December
📅 Response By: December 31

The Foundation may request additional documentation or conduct site visits during the review process.


Application Process

All funding requests must be submitted through the Foundation’s online application portal. Applicants outside metro Atlanta must include a Cox leader endorsement letter with their submission.
