Tier 1 – Short Form
💰 $1,000 – $5,000

  • Grassroots nonprofits (operating budget ≤ $50,000)
  • Sponsorships or simple requests

Tier 2 – Short Form

  • Mid-sized nonprofits (e.g., filing 990EZ)

Tier 3 – Long Form

  • Larger nonprofits (budget ≥ $250,000; full 990 filers)
  • New applicants

Requests Over $25,000:

  • Require a Letter of Interest (LOI) and invitation before submitting a full proposal

Eligibility & Preferences

Applicants must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (or international equivalent)
  • Serve communities where Dawn has an operational presence
  • Align with Dawn’s funding priorities
  • Comply with non-discrimination and applicable laws
  • Submit a complete application with required documentation

Additional notes:

  • Not all Dawn locations have funding available each year
  • Multiple grants to the same organization within a year are rare

Ineligible Requests

Dawn Foods does not fund:

  • Individuals
  • Political organizations or campaigns
  • Labor unions
  • Fraternal, service, or veteran organizations
  • Religious organizations for theological purposes
  • Competitions, sports teams, or tournaments
  • Debt reduction or loan requests
  • Organizations that practice discrimination

Timeline & Review

Round 2 Cycle (June – October):
📅 June 1 – July 15: Submit Letter of Interest (if applicable)
📅 July 15 – Aug 31: Invitations to apply
📅 Sept 1 – 30: Review & decision period
📅 Oct 1 – 31: Awards announced

📅 Small Requests (<$1,000): Can be submitted via email year-round
