Eligibility & Preferences
Eligible applicants must:
Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
Serve individuals and families in Allegheny and/or Beaver counties
Have an annual operating budget over $500,000
Demonstrate impact in Basic Needs and/or Workforce Development
Complete Duquesne Light’s due diligence process if selected for funding
Duquesne Light prioritizes programs that:
Provide direct support for food, housing, or crisis relief
Offer job training, career readiness, or career-focused STEM education
Serve communities burdened by high energy costs
Ineligible Requests
Duquesne Light generally does not fund:
Organizations outside Allegheny and Beaver counties
Government entities, unless they are 501(c)(3) equivalents
Religious, political, or advocacy organizations
Fundraising events such as golf outings, 5Ks, or award dinners
Capital campaigns or travel grants
Individuals, private foundations, or for-profit entities
Direct cash assistance
Discriminatory organizations or activities
Street or holiday lighting projects
Healthcare or medical research
Performing and public arts initiatives
Youth sports, booster clubs, college clubs, membership-based organizations, or extracurricular activities
