Geographic Focus: Eligible communities within a 20-mile radius of a Food Lion store in Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia


About the Funder

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to addressing food insecurity across the communities Food Lion serves. Through its grantmaking, the Foundation supports nonprofit organizations working to feed neighbors in need by funding the direct purchase of food for hunger-relief efforts.


What This Program Supports

Spring/Summer grants are strictly designated for:

  • Purchase of food to support hunger-relief programs
  • Direct food distribution efforts serving individuals and families facing food insecurity

⚠️ Grant funds may only be used for food purchases and cannot support general operating expenses or non-food costs.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or eligible government entity
  • Operate in or provide services within 20 miles of a Food Lion store
  • Be located in one of the following states:
    Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia
  • Partner with a local Feeding America–affiliated food bank
  • Apply no more than once every 12 months

Required Application Materials

A completed application must include:

  • Fully completed online application form
  • IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter
  • Signed and dated 2025 W-9 form
  • Current board of directors list
    • Government entities must include proof of municipal or state affiliation and a staff or board list
  • Letter of support from a Feeding America network food bank partner
