About the Fund

Established in 1997, the Franklin Savings Bank Fund for Community Advancement supports substantial projects that significantly enhance quality of life in the bank’s primary market area.

The Fund operates within the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and has awarded 272 grants totaling more than $1.3 million since its inception.


Geographic Focus

Eligible projects must primarily benefit residents in:

  • Franklin
  • Boscawen
  • Gilford
  • Merrimack
  • Bristol
  • Tilton
  • Goffstown

Projects with broader geographic reach may be considered if they directly benefit residents in the communities listed above.


Eligible Applicants

Organizations must:

  • Be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3), or
  • Be a school, municipality, or other subdivision of government

An organization may submit an application for a specific project a maximum of two times.

Funding Priorities

Grants support a broad range of community initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Affordable housing
  • Health care
  • Social services
  • Arts and humanities
  • Human services
  • Programs serving children, adolescents, elders, and single-parent families

Priority consideration is given to projects benefiting low- to moderate-income individuals and families.


Ineligible Requests

The Fund generally does not provide:

  • Operating support
  • Funding for ongoing or annual programs
