- Commitment to open-source licensing and public goods
Feasibility
- Realistic execution plan and timeline
- Clear budget and access to required data/computational resources
- Strong technical and domain expertise
Scalability & Sustainability
- Potential for replication across domains or geographies
- Plan for broad scientific adoption
- Knowledge-sharing and long-term impact strategy
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include:
- Nonprofit organizations
- Academic or research institutions (public or private)
- Social enterprises (including for-profit entities with a clear social impact mission and open-source commitment)
Additional Notes:
- Applications must be submitted in English
- Individuals without organizational affiliation are not eligible
- Organizations may submit up to two applications
- IP created with funding must generally be made publicly available under a permissive open-source license
The Google.org Accelerator (Optional)
Selected organizations may join a 6-month Accelerator program beginning in Fall 2026, which includes:
- Dedicated AI Coach and Project Success Manager
- Cloud infrastructure and AI trainings
- 1:1 technical mentorship
- Community-building sessions
- In-person kickoff and Demo Day
Expected time commitment: approximately 2–4 hours per week, plus in-person sessions.
