Eligible Applicants
Applicants must be organizations described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Programs or organizations must be located within, or directly serve, Horizon Bank’s defined market area or area of service.
For one-time projects, applicants may request funding for all or part of the project cost. For ongoing projects, applicants may request funding for all or part of one year of project support only.
Organizations requesting support for ongoing financial needs must secure commitments from other reliable funding sources for future support. These may include government agencies, other charitable organizations, self-supporting revenue, ticket sales, or other funding options.
Funding Amounts
Horizon Cares Charitable Grants generally range from $1,000 to $20,000 or more.
Grants for building programs may be awarded up to 2% of the total cost of the building project.
Applications that would help the requesting organization receive matching funds are encouraged.
Ineligible Requests
Grants will not be considered for:
Organizations that engage in political projects or functions
Organizations that lobby government groups through a registered lobbyist
Groups that contribute cash, goods, services, or facilities to candidates for elected office or political parties
Groups that endorse political candidates or political parties
Groups that assist in promoting political candidates or political parties through posters, signs, or other methods
Organizations that discriminate as defined under federal law in membership practices or in the distribution of benefits
Organizations not located within, or directly serving, Horizon Bank’s defined market area or area of service
