About the Funder

The Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation was established in 1997 as a way for Institution for Savings to share its success with the communities that helped make that success possible. The Foundation’s vision is to positively affect the lives of every person, business, and organization within the communities it serves.

Through its Grants Committee, the Foundation awards funds to eligible charitable organizations that serve local communities in northeastern Massachusetts.

What This Program Supports

The Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation supports nonprofit organizations and programs in the following focus areas:

Economic & Community Empowerment

Programs that promote and expand access to safe and affordable housing, as well as environmental programs that support community revitalization.

Youth Development

Initiatives that support young people through social, public education, athletic, or cultural programs.

Arts & Culture

Programs and organizations that provide arts and cultural opportunities that enrich local communities.

Health & Human Services

Programs and organizations that enhance the health and wellbeing of children, families, and senior citizens in the Foundation’s service communities.

Eligible Support Types

The Foundation’s online application process should be used for all funding requests, including:

Event sponsorships
Capital campaigns
Programs
Operational support
Other charitable funding requests

Eligibility & Preferences

Applicants should generally meet the following criteria:

Be designated as a charity under IRS section 501(c)(3)
Serve one or more eligible communities in the Institution for Savings service area
Request support for work aligned with the Foundation’s eligible funding areas
Submit applications through the online GrantsConnect system

Ineligible Requests

Paper applications and email requests for funding greater than $500 will not be accepted. Applicants seeking more than $500 must use the online GrantsConnect application process.
