Community investments are aligned with the Olmsted County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) priorities and aim to create a welcoming, healthy, and vibrant community that supports residents and sustains a diverse healthcare workforce.


Funding Priorities

Mayo Clinic considers grant requests that support CHNA priority areas:

  • Mental Health
  • Food Security

Programs may include:

  • Health and Human Services

  • Youth enrichment
  • Belonging initiatives
  • Arts and cultural enrichment
  • Capital campaigns
  • Community events

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
  • Serve Olmsted County, Minnesota
  • Apply no more than once per fiscal year (December 1 – November 30)
  • Request funding that does not exceed 20% of the organization’s operating budget

This policy applies to both requests above $5,000 and those $5,000 or less.

Ineligible Requests

The Mayo Clinic Community Contributions Program does not support:

  • Conferences
  • Disease-specific initiatives
  • Events such as bike rides, golf outings, walks, runs, or post-prom events

Application Timeline

Funding Requests Above $5,000

📅 3rd Quarter Deadline: May 31
📩 Decision Notification: By August 30

Other quarterly cycles:

  • November 30 (Decision by February 28)
  • February 28 (Decision by May 31)
  • August 31 (Decision by November 30)

Funding Requests of $5,000 or Less

  • Reviewed twice monthly
  • Typically notified within four weeks (delays possible due to volume)

Event Sponsorships

  • Must be submitted at least 12 weeks prior to the event
  • Use the designated event sponsorship form
  • Do not include sponsorship requests within grant applications

All applications must be submitted through the GrantsConnect portal. Separate forms are available for:

  • Grant requests above $5,000
  • Grant requests of $5,000 or less
  • Event sponsorship requests
