About the Program
New Jersey American Water proudly supports the volunteer firefighters and emergency medical service (EMS) professionals who protect and serve communities across the state. The Volunteer Fire & EMS Grant Program was created to provide direct financial assistance to local volunteer fire departments and EMS organizations operating within the company’s service territory.
This program recognizes the essential role volunteer responders play in community safety and helps ensure they have the equipment and training needed to do their jobs safely and effectively.
What This Program Supports
Grant funds may be used to cover costs associated with:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communications equipment
- Firefighting and emergency responder tools
- Water handling equipment
- Training and related materials
- Reimbursement for approved fire and EMS training classes, including:
- Training manuals
- Student workbooks
Funding must directly support community fire protection or emergency medical services.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include:
- Uniformed volunteer fire departments
- Volunteer emergency medical services (EMS)
Applicants must:
- Serve communities within New Jersey American Water’s service territory
- Be an organizational entity (individuals are not eligible)
Regional or county-wide applications are encouraged to maximize the number of departments and responders benefiting from grant funding.
