The DOGS RULE.® Grant funds innovative initiatives that can become replicable models across the animal welfare sector. Priority areas include:

  • Foster Programs
    Expanding or improving foster-based systems to increase adoption outcomes
  • Behavior Programs
    Training, socialization, and stress-reduction programs that make dogs more adoptable
  • Transport Programs
    Moving dogs from overcapacity shelters to areas with higher adoption demand

Strong preference is given to programs that demonstrate innovation, scalability, and measurable impact on adoption rates.

  • Innovation pilots with potential for national replication
  • Programs with measurable outcomes tied to adoption rates

Eligibility & Preferences

Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal shelter or foster-based rescue
  • Have at least two years of active nonprofit status
  • Be in good standing with prior PEDIGREE Foundation reporting (if applicable)
  • Demonstrate strong organizational capacity, partnerships, and volunteer engagement

Municipal shelters must apply through a qualified nonprofit partner.

Ineligible Requests

PEDIGREE Foundation will not fund:

  • Veterinary care, medical supplies, or spay/neuter programs
  • Capital campaigns or facility projects
  • General operating expenses or debt
  • Event sponsorships or endowments
  • Programs not directly tied to increasing dog adoption

Funding Amounts

  • $100,000 total ($50,000 per year over two years)
  • One grant awarded in 2026

📅 Awards Announced: Fall 2026

Semi-finalists will undergo an unannounced site visit as part of the review process.
