Grants Supporting Infrastructure and Community Development in Western North Dakota

AgriBank’s Rural Community Grant Fund provides grant funding of up to $50,000 to support infrastructure improvement and development initiatives that strengthen rural communities in western North Dakota. Funding supports projects that enhance health, safety, housing, education, and environmental outcomes in eligible communities.

About the Funder

AgriBank is part of the Farm Credit System and is committed to supporting rural vitality. The Rural Community Grant Fund is financed annually through income earned from mineral interests in western North Dakota—interests AgriBank acquired as a result of loan activity following the Great Depression. The fund reflects AgriBank’s long-term investment in the sustainability and well-being of rural communities.


What This Program Supports

The Rural Community Grant Fund supports infrastructure-related projects and development initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Housing projects
  • Health, safety, and environmental programs
  • Medical facilities and services
  • Educational programs and facilities
  • Other community infrastructure needs

Projects should demonstrate clear community benefit and long-term impact.


Eligibility & Preferences

Preference is given to:

  • Organizations with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status

Other eligibility notes:

  • Projects must be located in western North Dakota
  • Requests benefiting an individual personally are not eligible
  • Religious organizations may apply for community medical or housing projects, but not for religious purposes

Ineligible Requests

The program does not fund:

  • Requests for personal benefit
  • Religious projects intended for religious purposes
  • Federal, state, or county government entities

  • Grants of up to $50,000
  • Award amounts vary based on project scope, need, and available funding
