Speedway Children’s Charities Dover supports nonprofit organizations serving children across Delaware and the mid-Atlantic region. The Dover Chapter provides grants to children-focused nonprofits that help young people overcome obstacles and access opportunities to lead healthy, productive lives.

Speedway Children’s Charities is dedicated to helping children exceed expectations and ensuring that every child has access to opportunity, regardless of the obstacles they face. Through fundraising events, community activities, and charitable giving, the Dover Chapter provides grants to nonprofit children’s organizations serving Delaware and the broader mid-Atlantic region.
What This Program Supports
The SCC Dover Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations whose primary focus is serving children in Delaware and the mid-Atlantic region. Priority consideration is given to organizations helping children and youth who are homeless, orphaned, in foster care, victims of sex trafficking, or experiencing food insecurity.
The program focuses on the following funding pillars:
Critical Needs
Support for children and youth experiencing urgent or high-risk circumstances, including victims of sex trafficking, children who are homeless, orphans, foster populations, and food security needs.
Medical Needs
Support for organizations addressing children’s illness, dental care, disability services, therapy, and other medical-related needs.
Educational Needs
Support for tutoring, literacy programs, after-school programs, and other educational services that help children succeed.

Programmatic support for services benefiting children in Delaware and the mid-Atlantic region
Support for critical, medical, and educational needs
Eligibility & Requirements
Applicants must:
Be an existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity
Have a primary focus on serving children
Serve children in Delaware or the mid-Atlantic region
Complete the online application by the stated deadline
Complete both phases of the grant process, if selected to move forward
Submit all required second-round documentation on time
Participate in an in-person site visit if selected for further review
Attend the annual grant distribution luncheon if approved for funding
Priority consideration will be given to organizations serving children and youth who are homeless, orphaned, in foster care, victims of sex trafficking, or facing food insecurity.
Ineligible Requests
SCC Dover does not typically fund:
Capital projects
Operating costs
Salaries for any position
Funding Amounts
Speedway Children’s Charities Dover does not publish a standard grant amount for individual awards. In 2025, SCC Dover distributed $110,000 to 20 mid-Atlantic organizations.
Timeline & Review
📅 Application Deadline: September 15, 2026
📅 Second-Round Notifications: October 2026
📅 Site Visits: After second-round documentation is submitted and reviewed
📅 Grant Ceremony Invitations: By the middle of November 2026, or sooner
📅 Annual Grant Distribution Luncheon: December 2026
Only organizations that complete both phases of the application process on time will be considered for funding. Organizations that miss a deadline will not be able to continue in the grant process.
Second-Round Documentation
Organizations invited to the second round may be asked to submit:
IRS 501(c)(3) verification
Organization financials
List of board of directors
Mission statement
Organizational chart
Budget tracker worksheet provided by SCC
Organizations must submit required paperwork on time to continue in the grant process.
Site Visit Requirement
Organizations that move forward after second-round review and submit all required documentation on time will receive an in-person site visit from an SCC Trustee.
Grant Luncheon Requirement
Approved organizations are required to attend the annual grant distribution luncheon in December. A representative from the organization must attend the luncheon.
Application / Request Process
Eligible organizations must complete the online application through the SCC Dover grant portal. Organizations selected for further review will be contacted and asked to submit additional information for the second phase of the process.
