Through its charitable foundation, The Hanover Insurance Group invests in nonprofit organizations addressing the most pressing needs of underserved youth and communities. The Hanover Foundation focuses on expanding opportunity, improving health outcomes, and supporting communities during times of crisis through proven and innovative approaches.

About the Funder
The mission of The Hanover Foundation is to enact meaningful, positive change in the lives of underserved youth and to empower the organizations that support them. The Foundation prioritizes collaborative, outcome-driven initiatives that address educational barriers, workforce readiness, health equity, and community safety.
Funding Priorities
Grants align with four strategic focus areas:
Education
Programs that improve educational outcomes for underserved children and youth through access to resources, peer support, and wraparound services.
Health
Initiatives that address social determinants of health, including food insecurity, housing stability, access to mental health services, and safe communities.
Workforce Development
Programs that build career pathways for youth through training, mentorship, and real-world experiences that promote equitable workforce access.
Safety
Coordinated responses to catastrophic events that impact the safety, security, and well-being of communities.
Eligibility & Preferences
Applicants must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or operate under a qualified fiscal sponsor
- Demonstrate a proven track record of impact
- Clearly articulate measurable outcomes
- Show evidence of collaboration to address community needs
⚠️ Important:
Organizations that have not received funding from The Hanover Foundation within the past three years must contact the Foundation for permission to apply before submitting an application.
Ineligible Requests
The Foundation generally does not support:
- National fundraising drives
- Organizations benefiting a single individual or family
- Private schools
- Amateur or professional sports organizations
- Religious, sectarian, political, professional, fraternal, or labor organizations
- Beauty or talent contests
- Organizations not compliant with EEO, anti-harassment, or non-discrimination policies
Capital requests are by invitation only.

📅 Notification: May 2026
Application / Request Process
Nonprofits are encouraged to schedule a meeting with the Foundation prior to applying.
All applications must be fully completed by the deadline.
