About the Funder
The Kemper Foundation is committed to strengthening communities through education-focused philanthropy. Its Read Conmigo initiative supports bilingual literacy, culturally responsive education, and family engagement, with a particular emphasis on Spanish–English dual-language programs serving elementary-age students in Title I schools.
What This Program Supports
Grant funds are intended to support school-wide or program-wide dual-language initiatives, including:
- School resources & technology improvements
- Instructional support and professional development
- Community and cultural engagement activities
- Enhancements that strengthen Spanish–English dual-language instruction
Note: Schools serving grades beyond K–5 may apply, but funded projects must primarily benefit elementary-age (K–5) students.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, schools must:
- Be a Title I public or charter elementary school
- Serve bilingual students in eligible locations
- Have an established Spanish–English dual-language program with at least one year of implementation
- Not have received a Read Conmigo School Impact Grant in the previous school year
- Submit one application per school per cycle
Application rules:
- Applications must be submitted by the school principal on behalf of the school
- Principals may not have an immediate family member employed by any Kemper family company, including Kemper Corporation, Kemper Auto, or Kemper Life
