Wegmans – Community Giving Program | Gift Cards, Product Donations & Event Support for Local Nonprofits

2 Min Read

Organization: Wegmans

About the Funder

Wegmans is a family-owned regional supermarket dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves. Through its Community Giving Program, Wegmans supports nonprofits that strengthen local food systems, promote healthy communities, and enhance education, youth development, and neighborhood vitality.

Wegmans provides gift cards, product donations, and event sponsorships to help nonprofits advance their mission and serve community needs.

What This Program Funds

Wegmans supports nonprofit organizations through several types of giving:

1. Gift Cards

For use in:

  • Fundraising events

  • Auctions & raffles

  • Community programs needing supplies

  • Food purchases for program participants

2. Product Donations

Primarily food items or store products for:

  • Community events

  • Hunger-relief programs

  • Fundraising activities

  • Volunteer events

3. Event Support & Sponsorship Consideration

Wegmans may assist with:

  • Local charity events

  • Races & walks

  • Community festivals

  • Health, nutrition, and wellness events

Sponsorship decisions vary by store and region.

4. Hunger Relief Priorities

Wegmans is a major supporter of regional food banks, pantries, and meal programs.

Eligibility

Organizations must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or qualifying community organization

  • Serve communities within Wegmans’ regional footprint

  • Request support for charitable, non-profit purposes only

  • Submit the request through the Wegmans online portal

Wegmans generally does not support:

  • Individuals or families

  • Political causes

  • Religious programs not open to the public

  • Nonprofits outside Wegmans store regions

Funding Amounts

Wegmans does not publish fixed donation amounts.

Support may include:

  • Gift cards (value varies by event and request)

  • Food or product donations

  • Limited sponsorship support

Funding decisions depend on:

  • Community impact

  • Event size and purpose

  • Alignment with Wegmans’ philanthropic priorities

  • Available resources in each store/region

Deadline

Requests are accepted year-round, but must be submitted:

  • At least 3 weeks before the event or need date

High-volume seasons (holidays, summer) may require earlier submission.

Geographic Focus

Eligible organizations must operate within Wegmans’ service regions:

  • New York

  • Pennsylvania

  • New Jersey

  • Maryland

  • Massachusetts

  • Virginia

  • North Carolina

  • Washington, D.C.

Support is handled primarily by the local Wegmans store serving the community.

Application Process

  1. Visit the Wegmans Community Giving request page

  2. Complete the online form, including:

    • Organization and EIN details

    • Type of support needed (gift card, product, event support)

    • Event/program description

    • Requested date

  3. Submit the application at least 3 weeks in advance

  4. The local store or regional office will review and respond

Wegmans may follow up for additional documentation.

Why This Opportunity Is a Good Fit

Ideal for nonprofits that:

  • Host fundraising events or auction-based activities

  • Support food access, hunger relief, or nutrition education

  • Run community health and wellness programs

  • Work with youth, families, or local schools

  • Operate within Wegmans’ regional footprint

This opportunity is strong for events and hunger-relief efforts needing in-kind support rather than cash grants.
