About the Program
The Store Giving Program is led by Whole Foods Market team members who are empowered to support local nonprofit organizations addressing community needs aligned with the company’s core values. Funding is provided twice per yearand is intended for nonprofit program support—not gift cards or in-kind donations.
Funding Priorities
Whole Foods Market provides financial support to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations focused on:
- Food access
- Environmental stewardship
- Other closely related, mission-aligned community needs
Funding must benefit communities located near Whole Foods Market stores.
Eligibility & Funding Guidelines
Eligible Applicants
- U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
- Registered Canadian charitable organizations
- UK charitable incorporated organizations
- Applicants must demonstrate verified nonprofit status
Ineligible Requests
Whole Foods Market does not fund:
- Individuals
- Political candidates or political organizations
- For-profit businesses
- Organizations that discriminate against any racial, ethnic, or cultural group
Important Use & Publicity Restrictions
Organizations receiving Store Giving support must comply with strict brand and publicity guidelines, including:
- No public announcements, press releases, or communications about the donation without prior written approval
- No use of the Whole Foods Market name, logo, or trademarks without written consent
- Any approved use is subject to Whole Foods Market’s trademark and communications guidelines
Additional Considerations
- Priority is given to organizations that have not received another Whole Foods Market donation or sponsorship in the same calendar year
- Funding from the Whole Foods Market Foundation (including Whole Cities, Whole Kids, or Whole Planet) does not disqualify applicants
- Only one request per organization may be submitted per funding cycle
- Past funding does not guarantee future support
- Due to high volume, not all requests can be funded
