The Banfield Foundation Disaster Relief Grant Program provides emergency funding to nonprofit animal welfare organizations and eligible government animal service agencies responding to natural or other unanticipated disasters. What This Program Supports
Disaster Relief Grant funds may be used for immediate, disaster-related needs, including:
- Veterinary care and medical supplies for affected pets
- Pet food and essential pet supplies (crates, bedding, etc.)
- Temporary sheltering or boarding for rescued or at-risk animals
- Cleaning supplies, tarps, blankets, and other emergency materials
- Transportation costs to rescue, evacuate, or relocate pets
- Disaster-related operational costs such as overtime staffing, rental facilities or equipment, and cleanup expenses
💡 Eligible expenses may be reimbursed for up to three months post-disaster.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a nonprofit animal welfare organization with 501(c)(3) status or a local or state government animal service agency
- Have an animal welfare mission or a direct relationship with an animal welfare organization
- Have been directly impacted by a recent disaster and/or be providing assistance in a disaster-affected area
- Operate programs serving pets and their owners in the United States
Ineligible Requests
The Banfield Foundation does not fund:
- Requests related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic
- Hoarding or abuse cases
- Feral animal population programs
- Programs solely dedicated to sanctuary animals, equine, livestock, or wildlife assistance
