About the Funder

BankFive is a community bank dedicated to investing in local nonprofit organizations and events that strengthen the SouthCoast Massachusetts and Rhode Island regions. Through its Charitable Giving & Sponsorship Program, BankFive provides financial support to 501(c)(3) charitable organizations working to improve community well-being and quality of life.

BankFive’s involvement is part of a broader community commitment that includes employee volunteer efforts and grants from The BankFive Foundation Fund.


What This Program Supports

BankFive’s Charitable Giving focuses on supporting organizations and initiatives that create meaningful impact in these key areas:

Eligible Support Types

  • Monetary charitable contributions to 501(c)(3) nonprofits

  • Event sponsorships and community partnership support

These donations are often used to:

  • Support equity-based youth programs (education, mentorship, leadership)

  • Enhance community health services and address basic needs

  • Aid underserved communities including housing and revitalization initiatives

  • Promote business and economic development

  • Strengthen arts & culture programming

  • Expand financial literacy and education opportunities


Eligibility

Charitable giving is available to nonprofit organizations that:

  • Are recognized as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entities

  • Operate in and provide services to one or more eligible counties in Massachusetts or Rhode Island:

    • Massachusetts: Bristol County, Barnstable County

    • Rhode Island: Bristol County, Newport County, Washington County, Providence County, Kent County

BankFive does not accept requests submitted via email, mail, or in-person; all applications must be submitted online.


Funding Amounts

BankFive does not publish fixed award amounts. The size of each contribution varies based on organizational need, alignment with focus areas, and available funding in a given year. In 2024, BankFive and its foundation provided more than $750,000 in community support and logged over 2,500 volunteer hours.

Deadline

📅 Requests must be submitted at least two months before the desired support date to allow sufficient time for evaluation and processing by the Charitable Giving Committee, which meets regularly throughout the year.


Geographic Focus

Support is limited to organizations serving communities in select counties across Massachusetts and Rhode Islandwhere BankFive operates.


Application / Request Process

To apply for funding from BankFive’s Charitable Giving Program:

  1. Prepare required documents:

    • Copy of 501(c)(3) nonprofit status form

    • Copy of W-9 (Taxpayer Identification Number)

    • Brief cover letter on organizational letterhead with mission statement

    • Sponsorship levels and ad specifications (if applicable)

  2. Submit your complete application online (applications not accepted via email or mail).
