Eligible Applicants

Applicants must be:

  • A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit
  • A government agency
  • A school
  • A charitable dental clinic (such as an FQHC)
  • Located and registered in Arkansas (national organizations must have an Arkansas chapter)

Additional requirements:

  • All funding must be used within Arkansas
  • Grants are not awarded to individuals
  • Organizations must wait 12 months and submit a final report before reapplying

Allowable & Non-Allowable Costs

Grant Funds May Be Used For:

  • Program or administrative staff time (oral health portion only)
  • Equipment, supplies, consumables, and one-time costs
  • Denture lab fees
  • Daily operational costs related to the oral health program
  • Educational materials and curriculum

Grant Funds Cannot Be Used For:

  • Paying dentists or hygienists directly
  • Covering treatment costs, billable procedures, co-pays, or deductibles
  • Fundraising events or sponsorships
  • Private foundations or endowments
  • Organizational debt
  • Excessive salaries, travel, or gifts
  • Programs that discriminate

The Foundation also offers a Toothapalooza Playbook with sample project ideas, including:

  • Free dental screenings and fluoride varnish
  • “Dentist for a Day” education activities
  • Flossing demonstrations
  • Sealant education activities

Organizations may use these templates or propose their own innovative oral health initiatives.


How Applications Are Reviewed

Applications are evaluated monthly based on:

  • Clarity and completeness of the proposal
  • Potential impact on oral health outcomes in Arkansas
  • Review committee recommendations

Funding decisions are final, but feedback is provided if a project is not selected.
