Charitable Grants Supporting Community Improvement in Entergy Service Areas

Entergy’s Open Grants Program focuses on improving communities as a whole. Through this program, Entergy supports nonprofit organizations and public entities working in arts and culture, education and workforce development, poverty solutions and social services, healthy families, and community improvement. Open Grant applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and prioritized within Entergy’s service territory.

Programs that strengthen educational outcomes, build job readiness, and support workforce development for students and adults.

Poverty Solutions & Social Services

Initiatives that address poverty-related challenges and provide essential social services to individuals and families.

Healthy Families

Programs that directly support children’s educational and emotional development, as well as family-centered initiatives that help parents balance work and home responsibilities.

Community Improvement & Enrichment

Community-based projects that enhance civic life and neighborhood wellbeing, including civic affairs, blighted housing improvements, and neighborhood safety initiatives. These investments aim to help communities become more self-sufficient over time.


Eligible Support Types

  • Open Grants for community-based programs and projects
  • Programmatic funding aligned with Entergy’s community priorities

Eligibility & Preferences

Grants may be awarded only to the following types of organizations:

  • 501(c)(3) public charities or private foundations
  • Schools, hospitals, governmental units, or religious institutions with nonprofit status similar to a 501(c)(3)
  • State or local governments, provided funds are used exclusively for public purposes
  • War-veterans organizations with 501(c)(19) tax-exempt status
  • Volunteer fire departments with 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status

Priority is placed on programs serving specific counties or parishes within Entergy’s service area. Applicants are encouraged to contact their local Entergy contributions coordinator with questions about geographic eligibility.


Ineligible Requests

Entergy will not fund:

  • Organizations without 501(c)(3) or similar nonprofit status
  • Payment of utility bills
  • Political candidates or political groups
  • Purchase of uniforms, equipment, or trips for school-related organizations or amateur sports teams
  • Activities whose sole purpose is promotion or support of a specific religion, denomination, or religious institution
  • Grants to individuals or loans of any type
  • Organizations owned or operated by an Entergy employee

Funding Amounts

Entergy does not publish standard award amounts. Grant sizes vary based on alignment with priorities, geographic focus, and available funding.


Timeline & Review

📅 Application Timeline: Rolling / ongoing
📅 Recommended Lead Time: Submit applications at least three months before funds are needed
📅 Review Period: Allow 8–12 weeks for review and notification

Applicants who have not been contacted after the review period may follow up with the appropriate Entergy contributions coordinator for their geographic area.

  • All required forms are complete and accurate
