H-E-B is one of the nation’s largest privately held retailers and a major philanthropic leader in Texas and northern Mexico. Through its Community Support & Donations Program, H-E-B provides charitable contributions, gift cards, and product donations to nonprofit organizations that strengthen local communities.

H-E-B prioritizes programs that improve education, health and wellness, hunger relief, environmental sustainability, community development, and military support.

All requests—including cash support, product donations, gift cards, and event sponsorships—must be submitted through H-E-B’s centralized donation portal.

Eligibility

Organizations must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, school, government agency, or qualifying community organization

  • Serve a community within Texas or Mexico where H-E-B operates

  • Submit requests exclusively through the online portal

  • Apply at least 8 weeks before the date support is needed

H-E-B typically does not fund:

  • Individuals

  • Travel or scholarships

  • Groups outside the H-E-B service area

  • Political or religious organizations unless programs are non-sectarian


Funding Amounts

H-E-B provides:

  • Financial donations (amount varies)

  • Gift cards

  • Product donations

Amount awarded depends on:

  • Community impact

  • Organizational need

  • Alignment with H-E-B priorities

  • Availability of resources

H-E-B does not publish minimum or maximum amounts.


Deadline

Requests must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the event or program date.

Applications are accepted year-round.


Geographic Focus

Funding is limited to communities where H-E-B operates:

  • Texas

  • Northern Mexico

Organizations outside these regions are not eligible.


Application Process

To request support:

  1. Visit the H-E-B Community Support Portal

  2. Log in or create a new account

  3. Submit details about:

    • Organization mission

    • Program or event

    • Type of support requested (gift card, product, financial)

    • Community impact

  4. Upload nonprofit verification (EIN or equivalent)

  5. Submit at least 8 weeks before the need date

  6. Await review and notification

H-E-B reviews applications on a rolling basis.
