The Liberty Mutual Foundation Discretionary Fund supports nonprofit organizations working to advance security and resilience for people and communities. As a mutual company, Liberty Mutual places this commitment at the center of its business and community partnerships. The Discretionary Fund complements the Foundation’s RFP initiatives by providing flexible support to mission-aligned organizations in priority geographies.

Belonging, accessibility, and inclusion are foundational to the Foundation’s approach, with a strong emphasis on expanding access for vulnerable and underrepresented populations, including people with disabilities.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants typically include:

  • Organizations serving Greater Boston or Washington communities
  • Programs aligned with one or more of the Foundation’s strategic pillars
  • Organizations serving vulnerable or underrepresented populations

Ineligible Requests

The Foundation generally does not support individuals, political or religious organizations, sponsorships, events, conferences, travel, or debt reduction.


Funding Amounts

The Liberty Mutual Foundation does not publish standard discretionary grant ranges. Award amounts vary based on alignment, scope, and community impact.
