Eligible Support Types

OnPoint provides two primary types of funding through its Community Grants & Giving program:

Programmatic Support

Funding for specific nonprofit programs and services aligned with OnPoint’s community impact priorities.

General Operating Support

Flexible funding that helps eligible nonprofits sustain their operations and continue delivering essential community services.

Eligibility & Preferences

Applicants must:

• Be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
• Operate within OnPoint Community Credit Union’s membership area
• Provide programs or services aligned with Economic Opportunity and/or Community Vitality
• Demonstrate a meaningful benefit to communities served by OnPoint

Application Frequency

Eligible nonprofit organizations may submit one Community Grants & Giving request per calendar year, January through December.

Organizations should therefore select the application cycle that best aligns with their funding needs and organizational priorities.

Geographic Eligibility

OnPoint’s giving focuses on communities within its membership area in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Applicants should review OnPoint’s membership footprint to confirm geographic eligibility before applying.

Ineligible Requests

OnPoint does not fund the following through its charitable giving program:

• Sports and extracurricular activities
• Animal welfare and animal services
• Healthcare and medical services
• Fiscally sponsored organizations
• Capital campaigns and endowment funds
• Political and advocacy activities
• One-time and private events
• Faith-based programs with religious participation requirements
• Organizations that discriminate

OnPoint generally limits charitable grant funding to registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations rather than private foundations, individuals, or businesses.

Funding Amounts

OnPoint does not publish a standard minimum or maximum award amount for Community Grants & Giving.

Funding varies based on organizational needs, program alignment, and available resources.

Examples from the 2026 spring grant cycle include:

• $20,000 to SMART Reading for literacy programming and book distribution benefiting children attending Title I schools
• $15,000 to Dream for Life Outreach to expand community meals and food assistance in Southwest Washington
• $15,000 to Willamalane Park Foundation for summer camp scholarships
• $5,000 to Salem Angels for mentoring and support for foster youth and families
• $3,500 to BendNEXT for leadership development scholarships

In its 2026 spring grant cycle, OnPoint awarded more than $500,000 to 59 nonprofit organizations across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
