The Foundation typically does not fund:
- Organizations outside the targeted geographic area
- K–12 public or private schools (including athletic, music, or band fundraising)
- Houses of worship or primarily tax-supported public facilities
- Animal-related causes
- Sporting events (walks, runs, golf tournaments, etc.)
- Other corporate or private foundations
- Organizations that regrant funds to other entities
⚠️ If approved, the Foundation will sponsor only one fundraising event per nonprofit per calendar year.
Application Requirements
Applicants should be prepared to provide detailed information, including:
- Organizational Overview: Mission, leadership bios, staffing, and governance
- Financial Information:
- Prior-year operating results
- Current-year budget
- Balance sheet/endowments
- IRS 501(c)(3) letter and W-9
- Project Information:
- Population served
- Amount requested
- Intended use of funds
All applicants are notified of funding decisions by email.
Application Timeline (April Deadline)
Protective Life Foundation reviews applications on a quarterly grantmaking cycle.

Depending on the size and nature of the request, some proposals may be reviewed monthly by the Executive Review Committee.

- Respond to any follow-up requests from the Foundation
