$30,000 in Awards for K–12 STEM Education

Sparklight has launched its 2026 Dream Bigger contest, awarding a total of $30,000 to support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. Twelve winning schools or organizations will each receive $2,500 to fund hands-on STEM projects for K–12 students.

About the Program

Through its annual Dream Bigger initiative, Sparklight invests in classroom and community-based STEM learning experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

The contest is designed to help educators bring engaging, hands-on STEM projects into learning environments — equipping students with critical skills for an increasingly digital world.

Since launching the initiative, Sparklight has awarded nearly $200,000 to STEM programs across its service footprint.


What the Award Can Support

Applicants may request funding for projects such as:

  • Classroom STEM equipment
  • Robotics programs
  • Science competitions
  • Curriculum development
  • STEM learning materials
  • Other hands-on STEM initiatives

Projects should clearly demonstrate how the award will benefit students and enhance STEM education.


Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

  • K–12 schools
  • K–12-serving nonprofit organizations
  • Must be located in a community served by Sparklight

2026 Contest Timeline

📅 Entry Period: February 17 – March 10, 2026
🗳️ Public Voting: March 12 – March 18, 2026
🏆 Awards: 12 winners selected

Finalists are chosen by Sparklight, and winners are determined through public voting. Winning schools and organizations will also be featured on Sparklight’s social media channels.


Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • A photo
  • A written summary explaining:
    • How the $2,500 award will be used
    • How the project supports STEM learning
    • How students will benefit

  • 12 awards of $2,500 each
