Eligibility

Eligible applicants must:

• Be tax-exempt under IRS Code 501(c)(3), or be supported by a public school or qualified state or local governmental entity that is not classified as a private foundation
• Comply with the TD Charitable Foundation’s anti-discrimination policy
• Be located in a TD Bank, N.A. metro market area

Organizations may apply more than once, but only one grant will be awarded to an organization during a 12-month period.

• New England
• New York
• Southern Connecticut
• Northern New Jersey (Bergen and Passaic counties)
• Pennsylvania
• Central, Southern, and Coastal New Jersey
• Delaware

• Washington, D.C.
• North Carolina
• South Carolina
• Florida

Applicants should confirm that their program serves residents within TD’s geographic footprint before applying.

Ineligible Requests

TD Charitable Foundation does not support:

• Individuals
• Private foundations
• Political candidates, lobbying, or advocacy organizations
• Religious organizations
• Research organizations or research projects
• Athletic teams, social groups, fraternal groups, or labor groups with limited constituencies
• Organizations or events not open to the general public
• Programs serving communities outside TD’s footprint
• Fundraising events
• Annual appeals
• Operating deficit reduction
• Endowment funds
• Travel, trips, tours, or conference expenses
• Requests under $5,000

TD accepts regional grant applications on a bi-monthly cycle.

Application Requirements

Applicants should be prepared to provide:

• General organization and contact information
• Request details, including funding amount, project title, communities served, and outcome measurement
• Financial information, including organizational and project budgets
• Acceptance of grant conditions if awarded

Required attachments include:

• Board member list with employer, job title, and board position
• Most recent audited financial statement or filed tax return
• 501(c)(3) determination letter, or documentation for a government entity/public school
• Current organizational operating budget
• Proposed project budget

Reporting Requirements

Grant recipients are required to complete an impact report approximately 9 months after the grant date. TD uses this reporting to track the social and environmental impact of funded programs.

Organizations that do not complete required reporting may affect future funding eligibility.
