Grants Up to $35,000 for Community-Based Nonprofits

The Community Engagement Committee (CEC) of the U.S. Venture / Schmidt Family Foundation awards grants of up to $35,000 to nonprofit organizations working to empower disadvantaged communities, enhance quality of life, and foster stronger, more connected communities.

This opportunity is especially relevant for nonprofits with an existing relationship with U.S. Venture team members or shareholders.

U.S. Venture / Schmidt Family Foundation (USV/SFF)

Support Type

Community grants (up to $35,000)

Geographic Focus

Communities where U.S. Venture team members and shareholders are actively engaged

About the Funder

The U.S. Venture / Schmidt Family Foundation is committed to creating meaningful, lasting change in communities. Through its Community Engagement Committee (CEC), the foundation amplifies the impact of U.S. Venture’s corporate support by partnering with nonprofits that align with its giving priorities and demonstrate strong local engagement.

The CEC is made up of team members and shareholders who help guide grant decisions.

Funding Overview

  • Grant Amount: Up to $35,000
  • Limit: One grant per charitable organization per calendar year
  • Co-Funding Preference: U.S. Venture prefers not to be the sole funder. Applicants must list pending and committed sponsors.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for CEC funding:

  • Must be a recognized public charity under IRS guidelines (preference for 501(c)(3) status)
  • Must align with U.S. Venture’s giving guidelines
  • Must demonstrate documented support from a U.S. Venture team member or shareholder
  • Must disclose other funding partners (CEC typically does not serve as sole financial supporter)

Important:
For this grant cycle, the foundation is only accepting applications from nonprofits that have been historically funded by USV/SFF.

Application Process

Grants (Up to $35,000)

Applications are submitted through the foundation’s Temelio grant platform.

Key notes:

  • Only historically funded nonprofits may apply in this cycle.
  • Application questions can be downloaded for offline review, but submissions must be completed within Temelio.
  • Live chat support is available within Temelio during business hours.
  • For assistance: foundation@usventure.com

Sponsorship Requests (Separate Process)

Beginning in 2026, sponsorships are now team member-driven:

  • Requests must be submitted internally by a participating U.S. Venture team member via SharePoint.
  • External organizations cannot submit sponsorship requests directly.

Key Dates – 2026 Grant Cycles

Current Cycle Open: October 12, 2026
Application Deadline: November 15, 2026
