Wawa Foundation – In-Kind Support (Wawa Community Care Program)

2 Min Read

Product Donations & Event Support for Local Nonprofits

Organization: Wawa Foundation
Support Type: In-kind donations (products, gift baskets, coupons)
Geographic Focus: Communities served by Wawa retail locations (primarily East Coast markets)

About the Funder

The Wawa Foundation supports local communities through charitable giving, employee engagement, and in-kind contributions. Through its Wawa Community Care program, the foundation provides product donations and event support to community-based nonprofits, with a focus on organizations that strengthen neighborhoods and support youth.

What This Program Supports

Wawa Community Care provides in-kind donations to help nonprofits and community groups host successful events and fundraisers. Support is designed to enhance local engagement and provide tangible resources for community-based efforts.

Eligible support includes:

Product Donations

  • Soft pretzels
  • Wawa branded bottled water
(Products must be picked up at a local Wawa store and cannot be resold)

Event & Fundraising Support

  • Wawa gift baskets
  • Free hot beverage coupons
(Ideal for silent auctions, raffles, and fundraising events)

Eligible Support Types

  • In-kind food and beverage donations
  • Fundraising event items (gift baskets, coupons)
  • Community event support

Eligibility & Preferences

Organizations must:

  • Be community-based nonprofits or youth-serving organizations
  • Be located within a Wawa service area
  • Be hosting an event at least 3 weeks after submission
  • Use donated items in accordance with Wawa guidelines (no resale of products)

Important:

  • Each organization may receive one in-kind donation per calendar year
  • Requests are fulfilled based on availability and local store/regional budgets

Ineligible Requests

  • Requests submitted less than 3 weeks before the event
  • Organizations outside Wawa’s service footprint
  • Requests that involve resale of donated products

Funding / Support Value

Wawa does not assign a fixed dollar value. Support varies based on:

  • Type of donation requested
  • Store/regional availability
  • Event scale and alignment

Timeline & Review

📅 Application Timeline: Rolling
📅 Lead Time Required: Minimum 3 weeks before event date
📅 Review Process: Subject to local store/regional approval and available budget

Because funding is limited at the store level, early submission is strongly recommended.

Application / Request Process

Requests must be submitted through Wawa’s online application portal. Be prepared to provide:

  • Organization details
  • Event information (date, purpose, audience)
  • Type of donation requested
  • Confirmation of eligibility and use guidelines

Why This Opportunity Is a Good Fit

This opportunity is a strong fit for organizations that:

  • Are hosting community events, fundraisers, or youth programs
  • Need food, beverages, or auction items rather than cash funding
  • Operate within Wawa’s geographic footprint
  • Can plan at least 3+ weeks in advance

Wawa’s in-kind support is especially valuable for smaller nonprofits looking to enhance events without increasing costs.

Corporate Grants Guide Notes

Review Type: Rolling (availability-based)
Typical Lead Time: At least 3 weeks before event
Best Suited For: Local nonprofits hosting events, fundraisers, or youth programs
