Southwire – Charitable Giving & Community Support Program

2 Min Read

Organization: Southwire

About the Funder

Southwire Company integrates corporate philanthropy into its broader sustainability and community leadership efforts. Southwire’s Charitable Giving program combines financial contributions with the time and talent of its employees, reflecting a commitment to improve quality of life in local communities and around its operations.

Southwire manages all charitable donation requests through the YourCause: GrantsConnect platform, where nonprofits can apply for support that aligns with the company’s sustainability tenets — including Growing Green, Living Well, Giving Back, Doing Right, and Building Worth.

What This Program Supports

Southwire’s charitable giving supports nonprofit impact across several focus areas:

Eligible Support Types

  • Monetary donations to qualified nonprofit organizations

  • In-kind contributions and product donations

  • Volunteer engagement and employee involvement

  • Shared-value partnerships with customers and community groups

These supports are often used to:

  • Enhance community services and social support programs

  • Foster inclusion and belonging initiatives

  • Support environmental projects like conservation and sustainability

  • Advance education, especially STEM and workforce development

  • Strengthen community and social services (arts, youth programs, human services)

  • Enable collaboration with affiliates or customers for larger impact

Eligibility

To qualify for a charitable donation from Southwire:

  • Organizations must be a nonprofit legal entity with IRS 501(c)(3) status (or equivalent registered status in Canada or internationally).

  • Organizations must be financially stable and able to demonstrate their capacity to use the support effectively.

  • Supported initiatives should benefit communities where Southwire team members live and work.

  • Southwire prefers to support organizations where its team members can contribute time and talent in addition to financial resources.

Not supported:

  • Discriminatory organizations

  • Funding for individuals

  • Labor or political groups

  • Business or individual loans

Funding Amounts

Southwire does not list fixed grant award amounts online. The size and nature of support vary by the organization’s needs, the scope of the proposed project, strategic alignment with Southwire priorities, and available resources. Charitable giving has historically included millions of dollars in contributions and product donations to thousands of nonprofits.

Application / Request Process

To request support from Southwire:

  1. Create a YourCause account on the organization’s GrantsConnect platform.

  2. Submit a donation request through the portal with project details, mission alignment, and documentation.

Why This Opportunity Is a Good Fit

This opportunity is ideal for organizations that:

  • Are IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofits (or equivalent)

  • Work in areas such as inclusion, environment, education, community services, or shared-value collaborations

  • Operate in communities with Southwire presence or team engagement opportunities

  • Can leverage employee volunteerism and partnerships in addition to funding

Southwire’s approach emphasizes community integration, combining financial support with team involvement and shared resources to maximize impact.
