National Get Outdoors Day Requirement
All applicants must incorporate National Get Outdoors Day 2027, which will take place on Saturday, June 12, 2027, into their proposal.
This may include:
Launching a project or program on that day
Using the day as a milestone to showcase impact or engagement
Hosting or participating in a community event tied to the day
Applicants should clearly explain how National Get Outdoors Day will be built into the project plan.
Eligible Support Types
Eligible expenses and activities may include:
Program costs for new or existing programs
Reasonable staff time associated with implementing the program or project
Reasonable volunteer time and training associated with the program or project
This opportunity is best suited for programmatic outdoor recreation, environmental education, stewardship, community engagement, and access-focused projects rather than capital requests.

All grants must be made for charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.
Ineligible Requests
The Think Outside Grant Fund will not support:
Grants to individuals
Grants to individual churches
Sports teams
Affiliated groups, such as PTAs and booster clubs
Capital expenses
Fundraising events or galas
Endowment campaigns
Annual campaigns
Membership drives
Conference expenses
Political activities, including lobbying or other efforts intended to influence legislation or political leaders

Application / Request Process

Successful grantees will be required to sign a grant agreement before receiving funding. Grantees must also report back on how grant funds were used and what measurable outcomes were achieved through the funded project.
