Webster Bank is committed to being a caring and engaged partner in the communities it serves. Through its Philanthropy & Corporate Responsibility program, Webster provides grants and sponsorships to nonprofit organizations working to advance economic equity, inclusion, and opportunity for underserved populations. Funding decisions prioritize organizations delivering measurable impact in low- to moderate-income communities across Webster’s footprint.
Applications are accepted on a rolling, year-round basis.
What This Program Supports
Webster’s grantmaking focuses on nonprofit organizations whose primary mission and programming align with one of the following four pillars:
Workforce Development
Programs that promote job creation, strengthen small business development, and build career skills for underserved populations.
Community Development
Initiatives that expand affordable housing and economic stability, including homeownership counseling, foreclosure prevention, first-time homebuyer support, credit remediation, and support for CDFIs and CDCs.
Financial Empowerment
Organizations focused on financial literacy and inclusion, including programs for youth, older adults, and underserved communities.
Basic Needs & Human Services
Programs addressing urgent community needs such as food insecurity (primarily through regional food banks), homelessness, and targeted wrap-around support services.
Eligible Organizations
To be considered for funding, applicants must:
- Be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- Serve low- to moderate-income communities
- Align with at least one of Webster’s four program areas
- Operate and serve communities within Webster Bank’s footprint
- Have been in operation for at least three years with a demonstrated record of success
- Request funding for uses aligned with Webster’s philanthropic priorities
Due to high demand, Webster is unable to fund all requests received.
Ineligible Requests
Organizations whose sole focus is on the following are not eligible for funding:
- Arts and culture
- K–12 education programs
- Higher education institutions or programs
- Healthcare or single-disease–focused causes
- Immigration-focused organizations
Additional activities or uses that do not align with Webster’s priorities are also excluded.
Funding Amounts
Webster Bank does not publish standard award ranges. Grant sizes vary based on:
- Strategic alignment with program priorities
- Community need and reach
- Organizational capacity and track record
- Available philanthropic resources

📅 Review Process: Online eligibility quiz followed by full application
📅 Renewals: Grants and sponsorships do not renew automatically and must be reapplied for annually
