Organization: Sprouts Farmers Market
Opportunity Description: School gardens are powerful learning tools that grow healthy kids, engaged learners, environmental stewards, and resilient, empowered youth. Since 2015, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation has championed school-based gardening and cooking programs, recognizing the positive impact growing, tasting and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables has in shaping a child’s long-term preferences for healthy eating. The Sprouting School Gardens Grant brings hands-on learning and nutrition education to life by supporting school gardens and classroom cooking programs.
Grants range in size from $5,000 to $10,000 and support school-garden program operations, program supplies, and educator stipends. Organizations must be schools or 501(c)(3) nonprofits operating programs on school campus in communities where Sprouts Farmers Market operates stores in order to apply.
